Frequently asked questions
Where does availability data come from?
Applicants voluntarily share dates they can see on their appointment calendar. Each report includes a capture time. Confirm availability on the official portal because dates can change.
Does SlotSignal book an appointment for me?
You sign in and complete all booking steps on the official visa portal. SlotSignal helps you review community observations.
How does the calendar scan work?
Open your appointment calendar and press Scan visible calendar in the extension. It reads supported visible date cells, previews the earliest readable date, and asks you to review it before sharing. If the calendar structure is unsupported, you can enter the date yourself.
Do you collect my visa portal password?
No. Your SlotSignal account is separate from your visa account. Calendar reports do not include portal credentials, passport details, screenshots, or page HTML.
Which countries and visa types are supported?
The initial market is U.S. visa appointments in India, with B1/B2, F-1, and H-1B report categories across Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
Is SlotSignal free?
Community reports and up to five extension alert profiles are free. Paid plans are not available yet.
How do I receive alerts?
Use the extension's Alerts settings to choose your location, category, and date range. Browser notifications need notification permission. Email alerts require a verified address and working email delivery. SMS delivery is not available yet.
Why might an email verification code fail to arrive?
Check your spam folder and confirm the email address. Codes expire in ten minutes. If delivery is unavailable, the form will show an error and account creation will not finish.
Are you affiliated with the U.S. government?
SlotSignal is an independent community project, with no affiliation to the U.S. Department of State, an embassy, or the appointment service.
How do I manage my account and privacy?
After signing in, open My account to view your dashboard, change your password, or log out. See our Privacy Policy for retention and deletion requests.
